IPL Skin Rejuvenation
IPL Skin Rejuvenation in Leura, Blue Mountains
IPL Skin Rejuvenation uses precisely controlled Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to target visible signs of sun damage and ageing, including pigmentation, redness, uneven skin tone and broken capillaries. Light energy is absorbed by targeted areas within the skin, helping to break down unwanted pigmentation and reduce the appearance of vascular concerns while supporting collagen renewal.
The result is progressively clearer, brighter and more even-looking skin, with improvements developing over a course of treatments. IPL is a non-invasive treatment with minimal downtime, making it an effective option for clients wanting to address multiple signs of sun damage and skin ageing in one treatment.

How does IPL Skin Rejuvenation work?
IPL uses broad-spectrum pulses of visible light rather than a single wavelength. The light is absorbed by specific targets, or chromophores, within the skin — primarily melanin in pigmented areas and haemoglobin within superficial blood vessels.
The absorbed light is converted into heat, selectively targeting these concerns while leaving the surrounding skin largely unaffected. This allows IPL to address pigmentation and redness while also stimulating a broader skin-rejuvenating response.
Unlike an ablative resurfacing treatment, IPL does not remove the surface layers of the skin. This is one of the reasons it can achieve visible rejuvenation with relatively little downtime.

What to expect?
BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT
Your skin will be assessed during your consultation to determine whether IPL is appropriate and to establish the most suitable treatment parameters for your skin and concerns.
DURING YOUR TREATMENT
A cool layer of gel is applied before the IPL handpiece delivers a series of controlled pulses of light. You may feel a warm snapping or flicking sensation as each pulse is delivered. Protective eyewear is worn throughout treatment.
AFTER TREATMENT
The skin may appear warm or slightly flushed immediately afterwards. Pigmented areas may temporarily darken before gradually shedding, while redness and vascular concerns can take time to respond.
Your therapist will provide individualised aftercare and advise you when to resume your usual active skincare.
Progressive Results
IPL works progressively, and a course of treatments is generally recommended for optimal results rather than relying on a single session. Each treatment builds on the last, allowing pigmentation and vascular concerns to be addressed progressively while improving overall skin clarity, tone and luminosity.
Your treatment plan will be tailored to your skin, the concerns being treated and how your skin responds throughout the course.
